.Africa Domain is an African initiative established by Africans for targeting Africa

Today, 25th May, is Africa Day. It commemorates the foundation of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) – now known as the African Union – on May 25, 1963. It is celebrated across Africa and around the world. What day could be better than today, to highlight the coming .AFRICA domain name?

The .africa domain is the generic top-level domain for Africa and Pan African communities and users wherever they may reside. The .africa gTLD serves as a regional domain for individuals and entities based in and out of Africa.

.africa is the best domain extension for targeting Africa especially where a website or brand seeks to target more than one African country. Indeed, .africa presents a golden opportunity for individuals, governments, companies and other organizations to associate their products, services and information with the continent and people of Africa.

The .africa gTLD will bring the continent together as an Internet community under one umbrella allowing e-commerce, technology and infrastructure to flourish. This is a truly African initiative established by Africans for the World.

.africa was delegated in early April 2017 and will get to General Availability status on 4th July 2017. This means the domains with the .africa extension would be available to the general public from accredited Domain Name Registrars on a first-come first-served basis.

Founded in 2002, Web4Africa is an ICANN Accredited Domain Registrar and pan-African Web Hosting provider offering Domain Names, Web Hosting, Virtual Private Servers (VPS Hosting), Dedicated Servers from 4 datacentres across Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa, to clients worldwide.

Web4Africa is a leading domain registrar on the African continent and is accredited for dozens of generic domains like .com, .net, .org as well as country-code domains like .ng, .za .uk etc.
