Nigerians on Twitter have started calling for the patronizing of indigenous goods by Nigerians and a stop to the purchase of imported goods by the citizenry.
A move which was led and initiated by a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ben Bruce from Bayelsa state has been gaining massive attention with the usage of the hashtag #BuyNairaToGrowNaija. The hashtag has taken a new dimension as the charismatic Senator took deliveries of the first made in Nigeria car by Innoson motors in Abuja. The car which was also delivered to the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, was seen as one which has been receiving massive promotion on the social media network lately.
The call has been intensified with the recent fall of the Naira as against the Dollar and other major world currencies. According to local sources in the country, exchange of black market from a Pound to a Naira is as high as N500 to a Pound. Many have also hinted about the possible continual decline in the exchange rate owing to the policies of the present government.
The campaign by the charismatic senator however have brought hope to the faces of Nigerian as many Nigerians on Twitter have started supporting the movement and even those who belong to opposing sides have joined in the call for the movement.
We wish the campaigns turns the local economy into a fruitful one.
