The United Nations Secretary General appointed Rwanda’s Commissioner of Police (CP) Bruce Munyambo as Police Commissioner (D2) of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) earlier this week.
CP Munyambo’s appointment had earlier been seconded by the Government of Rwanda, according to Rwanda National Police (RNP).
He will succeed Uganda’s AIGP Fredrick Yiga, who has completed his three-year tenure.
CP Munyambo becomes the second Police Commissioner after CP Vianney Nshimiyimana, who is currently heading UN Police under the United Nations Operations in Ivory Coast (UNOCI).
He will assume the top Police office in UNMISS late this month. He takes over the UN office with rich peacekeeping and policing experience.
